Veterinarians

Dr. Darlene House B.Sc., D.V.M.

Dr. House received both her B.Sc. and D.V.M. degrees from the University of Guelph and the Ontario Veterinary College. Upon graduation in 1986, she returned to Windsor to be with family and friends and joined the staff of Brack Animal Hospital. In April of 2006, Dr. House purchased the practice from Drs. Howarth and Jackson. Her special interests include soft tissue surgery, oral surgery/dentistry and avian medicine. Dr. House served on the complaints committee for the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) from 1996-2002 and on occasion is utilized as an expert witness for the college. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), American Veterinary Dental Association (AVDA), the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV), Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Dr. House enjoys water sports, woodworking, home renovations and long walks with her Wheaten terriers “McKenna” and “Kayleigh”… and the occasional shorter walk with her wee, senior Yorkshire terrier “Misty”.

Dr. Lisa Booth B.S.Hon, D.V.M.

Dr. Lisa Booth received her Bachelor of Science with honours from Michigan State University in 1982 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Her interests include, internal medicine and dermatology. She enjoys traveling, gardening and water sports in her spare time.

Dr. Patrick Drew B.Sc.Hon., D.V.M.

Dr Drew received his honours Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Biology from the University of Windsor. He was the recipient of a University of Windsor entrance award, the Windsor Sportsmen’s prize and was awarded a National Science Engineering Counsel (NSERC), grant for research. Dr. Drew graduated from the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College in 1987. After graduation, he practiced at Blue Cross Veterinary Services, a mixed practice in Sarnia, Ontario. He returned to Windsor in 1989, and began his work at Brack Animal Hospital. His interests include ophthalmology, rehabilitation and internal medicine. Dr. Drew lives in Essex County with his wife and two young sons and their Golden Retriever “Tucker”.

Dr. David Howarth D.V.M.

Dr. Howarth is a 1971 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. He came to work for Dr. William Brack upon graduation, intending to stay one year he never left. He became a partner in the business with Dr. Brack in 1971 and then with Dr. Glen Jackson in 1980 when Dr. Brack sold his part of the partnership. They eventually sold the practice to the current owner, Dr. Darlene House. Dr. Howarth’s special interests include soft tissue surgery, laser surgery, orthopedics and dentistry. Dr. Howarth has reduced his work hours to two days per week allowing him more time with family, their dog “Sydney” and to enjoy sailing, skiing and woodworking.

Dr. Dean Mailloux M.V.B.

Dr. Mailloux completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Windsor in 2015 and received his Veterinary Medicine degree from University College Dublin in 2019. He was awarded the Duggan Veterinary Award and Veterinary Ireland Student Medal by achieving the highest level of academic performance in his graduating class. Dr. Mailloux began his veterinary journey at Brack Animal Hospital as a volunteer in 2012 and has been part of the Brack family ever since. He holds certification in ultrasonography and is passionate about internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Mailloux lives in LaSalle with his wife, children and Shetland Sheepdog “Laddie”. In his spare time, he enjoys playing drums, going on camping trips and spending time with family. 

Hospital Management

Corey – Hospital Manager

Corey has been part of the front office reception team at Brack Animal Hospital since 1994, after earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph. Recently, with Corey’s expanded office administrative duties, she has earned several related certificate courses at St. Clair College. She has captained a team of participants in the MS Super Cities Walk-a-thon for several years and participated in the Chamber of Commerce Challenge Cup. Her leisure time is spent with her husband, family, friends, dogs: Reginald and Mad Hatter and their cats, Grayseal, and Alice. Corey loves traveling, camping, hiking and gardening.

Registered Veterinary Technicians

Susan – Head Registered Veterinary Technician

Susan began working at Brack Animal Hospital soon after graduating from the Veterinary Technician program at St. Clair College in 1979. She was promoted to Lead Technician and has been supervising our technician team for many years. In her spare time Susan enjoys gardening, making crafts, and spending time with her husband and daughter. She shares her home with 5 cats and 1 turtle.

Courtney – Registered Veterinary Technician

Courtney began her career at Brack Animal Hospital as a part time kennel attendant after completing a highschool co-operative education placement. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at St. Clair College in 2011; soon after graduation she was hired at Brack as a Veterinary Technician and obtained her registration status. Courtney’s special interests include laboratory analysis and nutrition, but she enjoys all areas of the profession. In her spare time she loves to relax and spend time with her Golden Retriever, “Charlie”, a guinea pig,”Pixie”, her parrot,”Cricket” and a kitty “Kyo”.

Danielle – Registered Veterinary Technician

Danielle graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at St. Clair College in 2008. She joined our team shortly after graduating, working both as a technician and client services representative. She enjoys working with all animals and has a particular interest in exotic pets. In her spare time she enjoys pet sitting and spending time with friends.

Shauna – Registered Veterinary Technician

Shauna graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at St Clair College and obtained her registered status from the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians in 2005. She has worked in emergency, shelter and large animal medicine. In June of 2019, she celebrated her first year working at Brack Animal Hospital. When she’s not helping animals, she keeps busy with her 3 children, 3 cats and 2 dogs at home, at the cottage or working in her garden.

Juliana – Registered Veterinary Technician

Juliana completed her high school co-operative placement with Brack in 2015 and continued as a volunteer before being hired as an Animal Care Attendant. She returned to school to further her animal care education and graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at St. Clair College in 2019 at which time she proudly joined our team of Technicians. In her spare time Juliana likes to read novels, groom dogs and spend time with her cat “Theo”, German Shepherd “Sawyer”, and other ‘scaly’ pets.

Veterinary Technicians

Jo-Anne – Veterinary Technician

Jo-Anne graduated from the St. Clair College Animal Health Technician program in 1986. Since joining Brack Animal Hospital, Jo-Anne’s organizational skills and creativity have been the catalyst for many innovative ideas, as the hospital continues to evolve and grow. She enjoys attending continuing education seminars and conferences. Much of Jo-Anne’s leisure time is spent with her husband cheering from the sidelines as their three boys participate in their many sports.

Konrad – Veterinary Technician

Konrad was born in Malta, Europe and moved to Canada in 1989 to attend the Veterinary Technician program at St. Clair College. Upon his graduation in 1992, he began working at Brack Animal Hospital. He enjoys working with all pets including birds and reptiles. Konrad currently works for us part-time as his interest in animal dentistry lead him to pursue a career in the human health care field as a Dental Hygienist.

Sherry – Veterinary Technician

Sherry is our first Veterinary Technician to have graduated from the Ridgetown College Veterinary Technician program. In 2002 she completed her externship at Brack Animal Hospital and was hired shortly thereafter. Sherry performs her duties caring for our patients as a Veterinary Technician. She enjoys spending time with her family and their Boston Terriers: “Lily”, “Smalty”, and “Benjamin”.

Client Service Representatives

Martha – Lead CSR

Martha joined Brack Animal Hospital in 1983, after eight years experience working at a Windsor area animal hospital. She was promoted to lead receptionist and has supervised our front office reception team for many years. Martha has been a participant in the Chamber of Commerce Challenge Cup and the annual MS SuperCities Walk-a-thon. Martha is an avid gardener and loves spending time with family and friends. She is married and the mother of a son and a daughter.

Karey – CSR

Karey has been greeting clients and their pets at Brack Animal Hospital’s front desk since 1989.  She loves this interaction and the bond that has developed with many long time clients.  Karey is the proud mother of a son and daughter, one crazy dog named “Kevin” and a frisky feline named “Maple”.  She enjoys gardening, shopping and morning coffee in the hot tub.

Patti – CSR

Patti is a veteran of the animal health care industry having started her career in 1992. She worked for many years at animal clinics then transitioned for a while to office work in human medicine. Recently, she has had the pleasure of returning to her true passion of animal care and joined the Brack team in 2019. She enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and their many animals who make you feel either thirsty or mischievous: “Moose”, “Tequila”, “Moonshine”, “Whiskey”, “Kahlua”, “Nixie”, and “Havoc”!

Erica – CSR

Erica is a new addition to our CSR team as of July 2021. Erica graduated from Seneca College and became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2015. She has always had a passion for the health and well-being of animals, and currently shares her home with 5 cats! She also enjoys painting, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Animal Care Attendants

Jocelynne – Animal Care Attendant

Jocelynne graduated from the Animal Care Program at Sheridan College in 2017 and shortly thereafter joined the Brack team as a full-time Animal Care Attendant. She finds her work with the animals very rewarding and takes much pride in their care. Her hobbies include spending time with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors, and spoiling her niece, nephews and their two Boston terriers, “Penny” and “Thor”.

Ariana – Animal Care Attendant

Ariana joined the Brack team in March 2022. She has always had a passion for helping animals and hopes to one day pursue veterinary school. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her cat “Mimosa” and dog “Raisin”, indulging in a good book, participating in retail therapy, spending time with her family, and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Groomer

Hanan – Groomer

Hanan was born and raised in Zakho, Iraq. She completed her schooling in Veterinary Sciences in 1988 at the Agriculture/Animal Protection College in Musol, Iraq. Hanan came to Brack Animal Hospital through the Women’s Enterprise Skills Training of Windsor (WEST) and continued to volunteer in all areas of the hospital after her program finished. In 2006 an opportunity for employment presented itself and she was hired and began training in the grooming department. Hanan has two children, she loves fishing, cooking and grooming cats.
