Brack Animal Hospital is a full service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care for pets for over 60 years. Dr. Bill Brack established the hospital in 1954 out of his small white house where the parking lot is now located. In 1991 Drs. Jackson and Howarth commissioned the construction of the present hospital. It was designed and equipped to serve the needs of present and future veterinary medicine and surgery. In 2006, the hospital and practice were sold to Dr. Darlene House who remains the current proprietor and managing veterinarian. Brack Animal Hospital is accredited by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) and is 1 of only 4 hospitals in Essex County that is also accredited by the prestigious American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Only a small percentage (12-15%) of animal hospitals in Canada and the United States are accredited by AHAA. We at Brack Animal Hospital have upheld the AHAA standards without fail since 1964 because we believe your pet deserves the very best. Our medical team is one of the largest in Essex County with 6 veterinarians, 9 veterinary technicians, 5 client service representatives, 3 animal care attendants, 1 groomer, and 2 management staff all in one facility. Our team of caring individuals is our most valuable asset. We are pleased to boast that many members of our staff have been part of our team for over 20 years.
Our team of 6 doctors offers the distinct advantages of a wide variety of knowledge, expertise, and special interests, as well as the synergy of discussion and teamwork. The veterinarian team meets regularly and continually reviews the Standards of Care in our hospital to ensure medical and surgical excellence in the service our hospital provides. At Brack Animal Hospital, we focus on a team approach to health care and to education for all of our staff. Our doctors and team members attend continuing education courses regularly to ensure that we are educated on the most current information for the care of your animal companions.
We offer a wide range of veterinary services, routine and emergency. Our facility includes an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, surgery suite (2 surgical tables) and endoscopy unit, ultrasound, dental/oral surgery area with dental radiography, medical treatment room, seven examination rooms (including a dedicated comfort room for gentle farewells), grooming suite, hospitalization and isolation areas, indoor boarding areas, outdoor exercise areas, and prescription pet foods and supplies. As of Jan 2009, we are also the only veterinary hospital in Essex County using state-of-the-art digital radiography and surgical laser surgery equipment for a variety of procedures.
